Fair Tax Mark

We’re a Fair Tax Mark business, which means we’ve been independently verified as paying our fair share of corporation tax and reporting on it transparently. We understand that tax is at the heart of society and we’re proud of our contribution. We know that our customers would not expect anything less from us, and hopefully wouldn’t need to see a label to prove it. But we are keen to support the Mark and promote its adoption more widely.

What is it?

The Fair Tax Mark is the label for companies and organisations that are proud to pay their fair share of tax.

Where you see the Mark you know that a company is open and transparent about its tax affairs and seeks to pay the right amount of corporation tax. The Mark aims to offer businesses that know they are good taxpayers the opportunity to display this.

Why is it needed?

In recent years, we have seen the naming and shaming of multinational corporations that have chosen to use tax havens and artificial structures to avoid paying millions in tax. These companies inflate their profits whilst robbing the public of vitally needed funds. According to an estimation of the UK’s tax gap, around £12 billion is lost to the public purse each year via corporate tax avoidance.

Fair Tax MarkMeanwhile, there are lots of companies who do pay their taxes and are happy to do so. With many consumers wanting to avoid tax dodgers, the Mark is a way to show them which businesses are paying a fair amount of tax.

Who controls the Mark?

Fair Tax Mark Ltd is a non-profit social enterprise (registered as a Community Benefit Society) based in Manchester. It is managed by Ethical Consumer Research Association (ECRA) who report to the Fair Tax Mark board of directors which includes members of ECRA and Tax Research UK.

They also have a technical advisory group consisting of accountants, tax advisers and other experts who help develop the assessment criteria.
